They were voting on an amendment to make gay marriage illegal, not legal. I do not think it will be an amendment.
There are two SC decisions dealing with homosexuality. Bowers v. Hardwick and Lawrence v. Texas, though neither deals specifically with gay marriage. I agree with the first.
