How do you feel about the arguement comparing gay marriage to incestuous marriage

Now from this arguement I've heard many times, it used to be common for first cousins to get married and have kids. Brothers and sisters even did it. Well if 2 men can marry eachother, why not a man and his cousin who he's in love with? I'm not going to give my side to this because I don't want to start a debate but I would really like to hear what you all have to say. How do you feel about the arguement comparing gay marriage to incestuous marriage
People base their beliefs on allowing gay marriage simply that these people love one another and they should be allowed to marry. Using that argument is where the incestuous marriage comes into play.





If marriage is being allowed simply because 2 people love one another and should not be discriminated against, then why deny incestuous marriage? Those who claim that it鈥檚 different are doing so to avoid hypocrisy.

There was in fact a study showing that 1st cousin marriages do not generally lead to genetic disease. The study performed by the National Society of Genetic Counselors found that it only increased the chance for birth defects from 4% to 7%.

Actually, marrying cousins IS allowed in many countries and states. Marrying DESCENDANTS is not -- so you can't marry your uncle, but you can marry your cousin - different genetic pool. Brothers and sisters or Brothers and Brothers is illegal everywhere (you might be thinking of ancient egypt).





Unless you are thinking of same sex marriage among cousins, or two same sex siblings getting married, there is nothing in common with these two situations.





Same sex marriage is just -- same sex marriage. Perfectly normal in a lot of countries, including Canada. Marrying your sister -- not normal, in Canada or anywhere else.
ummm, well, normally you don't want interbreeding bc it will produce children with abnormalities. birth defects, lower iq, so there is an actual physical reason that families shouldn't mix genes.





as far as gay people, i just don't get the connection you are going for. there is no negative consequence for two people who are not related to get married. plus, if they are men, they would be looking to adopt, no issues with that. same with women, no interbreeding.





it's like dogs - i know this is a bad comparison, but if you breed the same lines too much you end up with health problems that are spread down the line. no such issue with gay marriage.





gay marriage and marrying someone in your family are just not the same thing at all.
Well for starters two men can't biologically reproduce, neither can two women. The problem with incestuous relationships is that if you have enough inbreeding you create all kinds of biological problems. The argument comparing gay marriage to an incestuous marriage is not even remotely valid.
MAJOR Genetic defects which is a non issue with gay marriage. Also I have heard why not pedophiles or animals and my response to that is gay marriage will be between two consenting adults. I won't say which side I am either but those are the flaws in your thinking
I don't think the government should be able to tell a person who they can and cannot love.





However,





They do have some of these laws in place so we don't have babies out there with 3 arms and half a brain.
Gay marriage and Incestuous marriage are different entirely. I always say live and let live. What other people do in their relationships does not have any influence over my own life.
You're missing the main point here.





Its all marriage that is wrong ....thats right any kind of marriage ANY.
