Would you say the majority of people in India have an arranged marriage?

And if anyone knows some figures that would be good also.Would you say the majority of people in India have an arranged marriage?
well yes i would say that the majority of people in india have a arrange marriage.even if they find good figures then also they are not able to marry that person because their parents are a little aristocratic, they don't like their child to choose a wrong partner for life.so take they like to prefer an arrange marriage for their child.but its not always that its only a arrange marriage nowadays the number of love marriages are increasing because parents are becoming sensible to the feelings of their child.i am an indian but i would like to have an love marriage with whom i love.....Would you say the majority of people in India have an arranged marriage?
These days its about 50-50. Even arranged marriages are not forced. the way they work is that family finds a suitable mate, the girl and guy talk and see if they like each other, if not move on to the next one until you find the ones you like. I cousin saw 50 girls before he got married, his parents were tired of finding girls for him.

P.S. no 90% of population in India does not live in rural areas, maybe 30%.
Yes, but figure is difficult to tell as there is no organisation which records each %26amp; every case. I believe more than two third people follow systematic procedures of arranged marriage system %26amp; boys %26amp; girls are allowed to see the fiancees %26amp; discuss too about future life for each other's satisfaction before saying final 'yes' or 'no'.
yes, i would say so, it is about 90% as most indian population lives in villages and it is villages that carry on with culture of arranged marriages.
Dunnoo.. im indian.. not born there but im not getting an arranged marriage.

i think the society has moved on there and now some people can marry who they wish as long as their parents approve of the person and their family.
maybe so. That's kinda their ';thing'; over their, so probably majority does it..
yes. In India more than 75% of marriages are arranged by their relatives and friends.
yeah

even if most people arent religious, they're parents r still old0 fashioned and stict most of the time
