How do Americans call the place where people recieve their birth and marriage certificates?

vital statistics office is usually found at your local Health Dept. and this is for newborns Birth certificates


You would go to your local recorder office usually found at the local hall of records, its the same place you apply for a marriage license and get copies of past birth %26amp; deaths in the county , get a passport. a local social security office has your social number through application. The D M V has our licenses on file. Marriage certificates are gotten from the local tax registry department. A birth certificate is obtained by the hospital you were born in. Use the blue pages in the phone book-those are the gov't and local state offices. Look up-marriage license -and the book will give a number. you can go from there.
Its called Vital Statistics but you can usually find this at a health department
